Okay, things have been quiet after the mayhem of cross season. But here is something exciting to attend, a bike swap meet. Lets all go make some sweet love to some not so gently used bike parts. See you there.
Portland Bike Swap Meet – presented by Northwest Trail Alliance
Start: 02/28/2010 – 10:00am
End: 02/28/2010 – 3:00pm

After a season of cross you think it’d be no problem dealing with a little rain, but within a couple hours it starts to wear you thin. Shifting your bike straightening your cold numb hand like a primitive tool. Finally remembering to suffer like a roadie. There are definite moments of greatness and suckage. Keep on riding.

Portland is blessed with many great bike shop, here is a nice little video of Molly Cameron showing us the ins and outs of Veloshop.
A few of us made it out to nationals. It was incredible in many respects, the course looked really fun/challenging, top racers, lots of people, the average bike there was worth more than all my bikes combined. Bend was fun too, the -6 degree weather let up and we were in the 30s and 40s during our stay. At the premiere of Cyclcross the Meeting there was a set of video montage and live music by Talk Demonic that was incredible. See some footage here and here. We bought a massive Stanley thermos in preparation and filled it with soco-coco (try saying that ten time fast!). We watched a juniors race on Sat, then the women’s and men’s elite on Sat. Photos only of the mens, and it was great to watch the countries best make such speed look easy. That race was incredible, we we’re routing for hometown favorite Ryan “Treefarm” Trebon, but early in the race he was with a group of three with one man slightly ahead. As the race went on the guy ahead Tim Johnson held his lead slightly then made it grow as Ryan shed the other 3 racers he was with. But of all the Cannondale boys, I’m happy Johnson won it. Next year nationals will be at Bend again, so they can duel it out again.

The starting line…
